There are many ways to add VitalSource eBooks to your account. One of the most popular is by redemption code. All VitalSource Redemption Codes are twenty-digit alphanumeric codes.
Note: If you are using an iOS device and have a redemption code, you must redeem the code through Bookshelf Online before accessing it in the app.
Redeeming a VitalSource code
- Sign in to Bookshelf Online using your email address and password.
- On the Home Shelf, click REDEEM card. From the MY LIBRARY shelf click REDEEM on the top menu
- Add your redemption code in the code box and click Redeem. To redeem multiple codes, click Add Another button and redeem up to four codes
Your library will update with your new book(s). Refreshing your library may take a few minutes. Note: You can manually update your app by refreshing the browser.

eResource Access Codes are different from VitalSource Redemption Codes;a VitalSource Redemption Code can be associated with an eResource Access Code.
When you open your Bookshelf Library and go to the title you redeem, you will be prompted if there is an eResource Access Code associated with the product associated with your Redemption Code. Further information can be found here regarding eResource Access Codes: How to Access eResource/Courseware
Accessing your e-textbook in the Bookshelf app
After redeeming your code, your e-textbook appears in the My library tab of the Bookshelf app. If your book is part of a collection, search through the books in the collection to find it. You can also download the Bookshelf app for Windows if you prefer to read on your computer.
