Managing Devices

Can I add a third device to my Bookshelf account?

No. Bookshelf allows two computers and two mobile devices to be activated at any one time on your account. If you want to add a new device after reaching that limit, you must first deauthorize an existing device.

You have reached your Machine Activation Limit. When signing into Bookshelf on a new computer or mobile/tablet device, you may receive a message stating that you have reached your maximum number of devices. About Machine Activation Limits: VitalSource Bookshelf allows for two computers and mobile devices activated at any given time on your account.

If you are activating a new computer or mobile device and receive the error message, “You have reached your machine activation limit,” you will need to deauthorize an older computer or mobile device to activate a new one.
